 Counselling, Coaching & Emotional Support

I am an experienced and qualified therapist and offer non-judgmental therapy where you can explore any difficulties you may be experiencing in a confidential environment.  Talking therapies can help you deal with, and overcome issues that are causing pain or making you feel uncomfortable

I can provide a safe and regular space for you to talk and explore difficult feelings and help you better understand yourself.  My role is to listen to you, support you and respect your views.  I will help you find your own insight and understanding of your problems and feel more confident

With empathy and compassion I can help you work through your thoughts and feelings to find your way forward.  I can help you accept what you can't change and change what you can.  You will learn a set of skills that you can apply whenever you need to and you will hopefully find them useful long after you have left therapy

Walk & Talk Therapy

Walk and talk therapy is an alternative to working in the traditional therapy room setting.  Rather than sitting inside 4 walls, we literally go outdoors to walk and talk, exploring issues and concerns in the natural environment.

You set the pace - whether it be a brisk stroll, or meandering with a bench stop - you decide what works for you

Walking alongside each other, literally and metaphorically, can feel like being on more of an equal footing.  This can encourage you to open up and engage with difficult feelings, which in turn enables a deeper exploration of issues

Rhythmic exercise, such as walking, can in itself be soothing, helping you to relax, making sessions more productive  Being in a natural environment seems to enable new, creative ways of thinking to come to light, it's as though the exercise and the freedom can enable you to see things from a different perspective, opening up new possibilities, finding solutions perhaps where you were unable to before

We are increasingly cut off from our connection to the natural environment and nature, and yet walking grounds us, enabling us to reconnect to the world around us, to tap into a sense of well-being and calmness, whilst at the same time giving us some feel good endorphins and vitamin D

Walking and talking can help with many issues such as depression and anxiety, low self esteem, relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief and loss

 How does it work?

Initially, we would meet in my therapy room or talk over the phone to discuss your requirements and issues like confidentiality. (see below)  On the day of the walk, we would meet at an agreed place, for the agreed session time

What about the weather?

Many people are happy to walk in all weathers, but it will be your decision whether to have the session outdoors or to hold it in my therapy room.  Again, this is something we would discuss during the first session

Where?

Our little part of Lincolnshire is full of beautiful walks.  We would discuss the variety of walks you'd like during the first session

How much does it cost?

1 Hour £40

90 minutes £60

The initial appointment

The initial consultation (free) takes place in my therapy room or over the phone and gives you a chance to share what you are looking for.  It's also an opportunity for us both to see whether we think we would work well together.  If you don't feel that you want to continue after the consultation, I will happily suggest other therapists whom you might like to work with.  Similarly, if I feel I don't have the skills or experience to work with you, I may be able to suggest other therapists who would be more suitable.

How frequent are the sessions?

Client and therapist usually meet once a week for a 60 or 90 minute session.  Regular weekly meetings give the client time to reflect on and process the topics discussed during each session.  Remember, you set the pace, so fortnightly or monthly sessions are available if you would prefer

What about confidentiality?

Obviously confidentiality is important and we would discuss what you would like to do if we meet someone you know when we are walking.  Seeing people walking and talking side by side is very common, and we may just pass by engrossed in our conversation, or pause until you feel happy to continue talking

Do you do longer walks?

Yes, longer sessions can be arranged and in different locations - please ask

If you think walk and talk therapy might be for you, get in touch

Counselling can be used alongside medication prescribed by your GP and can also be used alone

The number of sessions you will require will depend on the issue/s you need help with, often this will be between 6-20 therapy sessions (which will be discussed and agreed with you)  but also one time counselling and occasional counselling can provide much needed reflection and relief

Many of my clients have said that counselling was literally a life changing experience.  Therapy isn't always easy but I think it is the most worth while gift you can give yourself

Sometimes we just need to talk to somebody that doesn't know who we are, so we are able to learn more about ourselves...sometimes we just need the right environment and someone to ask us the right questions

Mind MOT

Clearing the clutter

feel empowered and in control of your emotional well-being

Most of us get the concept of a physical MOT, so why not one for your mind?

Are you wanting to re-evaluate your life, where you're headed and fine tune your current life decisions?

wouldn't it be great if you could have a one off therapy session that explores all areas of your life, so you feel empowered and in control of your emotional well-being? you can offload your stresses, have an opportunity to evaluate your life and where you are right now and refocus your self care.

Having an impartial, non judgmental therapist who can help to clarify and make recommendations on how you can get yourself feeling at your absolute best can be invaluable. we don't all need therapy, all of the time. sometimes we just need to reset ourselves and that's exactly what these one off sessions aim to do

I recommend a mind MOT every 6 months, so that you can gauge for yourself just how things are going in your life, reflect on any changes and offer you the support to make changes if needed
